FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your appointment — prep, comfort, deposits, and aftercare.
How long does my hair need to be?
At least 1/4 inch — about the length of a grain of rice. If you've been shaving, that's usually two to three weeks of growth. Shorter than that and the wax can't grip the hair properly, so results won't last. Please don't trim before your appointment — if hair is on the longer side, we'll take care of it.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
The basics are the same for every service: arrive with clean skin and hair at least 1/4 inch long. For facial waxing, stop retinoids and exfoliants 48 hours before (three days before a full face wax) and skip makeup or creams on the area. For legs, exfoliate gently 24 hours before and avoid sun or tanning for 48 hours prior. For underarms, don't apply deodorant on the day of your appointment. For Brazilian and bikini services, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and avoid caffeine and exercise right before. Each listing on our services page includes its own prep notes.
Does waxing hurt?
There's some discomfort — it is hair removal, after all — but it's brief, and most clients find it much more manageable than they expected. We use gentle hard wax on sensitive areas, which grips the hair rather than the skin. Discomfort also tends to lessen with regular appointments. If you're sensitive, taking ibuprofen about 30 minutes before your appointment and skipping caffeine beforehand can help.
Can I get waxed while pregnant?
Many clients continue waxing throughout pregnancy. Skin can be more sensitive during this time, so we take extra care — but every situation is different, so please consult your physician first, and let us know at booking so we can adjust the service for your comfort.
I use retinoids or I'm on Accutane — can I still wax?
Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, and similar products) thin the surface of the skin, so stop using them on the area at least 48 hours before waxing — three days before a full face wax. Accutane (isotretinoin) is different: waxing is generally advised against during treatment and for several months afterward, because skin is far more fragile — please consult your physician. Either way, tell us at booking about any medications or skin treatments, and we can discuss alternatives.
How do deposits work?
A deposit ($10–$20 depending on the service) is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment, and is paid securely online when you book. It's applied toward the total cost of your service — the remaining balance is due at your appointment. We accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment — and no-shows — result in forfeiture of your deposit. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may need to shorten your service or reschedule entirely, and your deposit will not be refunded in the case of a shortened service. Full details are on our policies page.
What should I do after my wax?
For the first 24 hours, avoid direct sun, hot showers and baths, pools, heavy exercise, and tight clothing — freshly waxed skin needs time to settle. A gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer or aloe vera gel helps calm the area. For underarms, use a natural, aluminum-free deodorant for the first 24 hours. After two to three days, begin gentle exfoliation to help prevent ingrown hairs, and keep skin hydrated. Each service listing includes its own aftercare notes.
How do I book or reschedule?
Book online through our booking page — choose your service, pick a date and time, and pay the deposit to confirm. To reschedule, call us at (226) 350-3975 or send a message through our contact page — with at least 24 hours' notice, there's no charge to make a change.
It's my first Brazilian — what should I expect?
It's completely normal to feel nervous. You'll be in a private, professional setting with a certified esthetician who does this every day. The appointment takes about 45 minutes and uses premium hard wax, which is gentler on sensitive skin. Come with hair at least 1/4 inch long, wear comfortable loose clothing, and speak up at any point — we're happy to pause, adjust, or answer questions as we go.
